General aspects<\/h2>\n

If a broken windshield has not been properly replaced or repaired, in the best-case scenario water could enter the car in case of rain. But, in worse situations, the reality is that poor fitting of the front glass can reduce the car\u2019s structural strength, potentially leading to a high risk of damage in the event of an accident.<\/p>\n

When a collision occurs, the driver and passenger airbags deploy with great force, which, if the windshield is not correctly installed, could cause it to become detached. It could also interfere with the functioning of the airbags, preventing them from deploying. Without a doubt, this would lead to extremely serious consequences.<\/p>\n

Installation and calibration<\/h2>\n

Although this task is always best carried out by a specialist technician, let\u2019s now look at how a windshield should generally be installed. First and obviously, the old broken windshield is removed using specific tools designed for this type of service.<\/p>\n

The vehicle\u2019s frame is then cleaned and prepared for the subsequent installation of the new one, removing any residue and dust. For the installation itself, a specific adhesive is usually applied to the car\u2019s frame, first ensuring that the glass is properly positioned. Once in place, it simply needs to be left to dry for a few hours. It is preferable not to use the car during this time to prevent unwanted movement of the glass.<\/p>\n

As for calibration, this is a process in which the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System)<\/strong><\/a> is correctly adjusted for the detection of people or obstacles while driving, as well as for automatic braking. This system integrates cameras installed in the windshield, which means that the windshield replacement must be carried out to perfection to maintain the effectiveness of the system.<\/p>\n
