We\u2019ve previously discussed the different <strong>vehicle components to check<\/strong> before starting your journey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-27\">It\u2019s important to care for elements such as <strong>lights, brakes, and windows<\/strong>. This<strong> reduces the chances of accidents<\/strong>, although, of course, it does not eliminate them entirely. At Ralarsa, <strong>automotive glass specialists<\/strong>, we\u2019ll discuss the <a href=\"..\/..\/..\/\"><strong>mandatory car kit<\/strong><\/a> in this article, highlighting the key elements for a well\u2011prepared drive on all your trips. Take note!<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"ai-optimize-28\">What should a safety kit include?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-28\">Here is a list of essential items that make up a<strong> vehicle\u2019s safety kit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"ai-optimize-29\">Reflective vest<\/h3>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-29\">This is a crucial item for when you need to exit your car unexpectedly on the road. Its bright yellow colour and reflective stripes <strong>help you be seen<\/strong> easily both day and night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-30\">The<strong> reflective vest should be stored in the car\u2019s glovebox<\/strong>, not in the boot. Having it in the front compartment allows <strong>easy access<\/strong> for the driver, enabling you to exit the car already wearing it.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"ai-optimize-31\">Triangle or V16 warning light<\/h3>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-31\">Once you\u2019ve signalled your presence with the vest, you can alert others to your stationary vehicle from a distance. <strong>Warning triangles<\/strong> must be placed in front of and behind the vehicle, <strong>at least 50 metres away<\/strong>, so they\u2019re visible from 100 metres back. Although, since July 2023, the triangle is no longer required by law in the<strong> mandatory car kit<\/strong>, it is still a <strong>useful tool<\/strong> when used with caution.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-32\">Replacing the traditional triangle is the<strong> V16 warning light.<\/strong> It serves the same purpose \u2014 <strong>to enhance road safety and reduce accidents<\/strong>. It\u2019s a small orange\/yellow beacon with connectivity, capable of producing a 360\u00ba flashing or steady light for approximately half an hour. It can be powered by a<strong> battery or cell<\/strong> with a minimum lifespan of 18 months.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"ai-optimize-33\">Spare wheel<\/h3>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-33\">In case of a flat tyre, you can replace it without waiting for roadside assistance if you have a <strong>spare wheel<\/strong>. This <strong>wheel<\/strong> must be kept at the <strong>correct pressure,<\/strong> and you need the <strong>tools<\/strong> and<strong> knowledge to complete the change.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-34\">Since it\u2019s a temporary spare tyre, its <strong>lifespan is shorter than the other tyres,<\/strong> so you should later visit a workshop to replace it. Still, it can get you out of trouble and save you time.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"ai-optimize-35\">Snow chains<\/h3>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-35\">In<strong> colder regions,<\/strong> roads often have<strong> lower temperatures,<\/strong> allowing snow to accumulate during hail or snowstorms.<strong> Before driving on icy roads,<\/strong> to improve traction on slippery surfaces, <strong>you must stop and put chains on at least two of the four wheels.<\/strong> For front\u2011wheel\u2011drive vehicles, chains must be on the two front wheels. For rear\u2011wheel\u2011drive vehicles, chains must be fitted to the two rear wheels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-36\">There are<strong> two types of chains:<\/strong> <strong>metal and textile<\/strong>. Metal chains are the classic format, wrapping the tyre with metal links, while textile chains are a fabric\u2011style cover made of polymers and synthetic fibres. The <strong>former<\/strong> are more<strong> durable and resistant<\/strong>, while the latter are<strong> lighter and easier<\/strong> to fit. With both types, <strong>driving speed should be reduced.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"ai-optimize-37\">Mandatory car kit: important extras<\/h3>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-37\">The items mentioned above are essential, along with other tips for <strong><a href=\"..\/..\/..\/\">preparing your car for a long trip<\/a>.<\/strong> However, there are<strong> other items,<\/strong> outside the mandatory car kit, that may be needed to adapt to weather or physical conditions \u2014 for example, blankets, <strong>warm clothing, a torch, or for emergencies:<\/strong> a <strong>first aid kit, water, or some food.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-38\">Accidents result from many different causes, so it\u2019s important not only to <strong>prepare the car<\/strong> to avoid breakdowns, but also to be ready to <strong>act correctly.<\/strong> At <strong>Ralarsa<\/strong>, we know all the secrets of a<strong> safe road trip<\/strong>.
