What restrictions will cars with a B sticker have in 2023?

¿Qué Restricciones Tendrán los Coches con Pegatina B en 2023? | Ralarsa

Christmas is just around the corner, and with it, the New Year is approaching. Its arrival brings changes, not only in our daily lives but also for our vehicles. What restrictions will there be for the coming year?

At Ralarsa, electric window regulator repair workshop, we tell you everything in this article. At Ralarsa, we are experts in car glass repair, with more than 40 years of experience taking care of our customers’ cars in Spain, and a network of over 250 workshops across the Peninsula.

What will the restrictions be?

As we mentioned before, drivers will face new motoring restrictions that will come into force next year, 2023. However, they will only apply to vehicles that meet certain characteristics and have the B environmental sticker — commonly recognised as the yellow one.

Without a doubt, this measure will affect you if your car is equipped with a petrol engine and was registered between 2001 and 2005. The same will apply if it is a diesel vehicle registered between January 2006 and August 2015.

The measure that will cause many drivers to be affected is as follows: in 2023, all cars with a B sticker will be allowed to enter the low-emission zone (ZBE), but they will be prohibited from parking in the zone. As such, drivers will need to opt for a car park. This rule applies exclusively to the aforementioned zones; outside of them, circulation and parking are permitted freely according to DGT regulations.

Only drivers with a vehicle classified with the B sticker will have to comply with these new restrictions. It is also worth mentioning that this measure will only be in effect in Spanish municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants.

This new regulation aims to combat climate change and improve air quality in cities. This strategy was developed and promoted by the Government and is broadly intended to improve the daily lives of our society, within the framework of the Climate Change Law. For this reason, it has been considered that placing restrictions on vehicles that could be more harmful is a good way to achieve that goal.

In view of the concerns of local councils, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) has requested a one-year grace period from the Government to adapt to this new regulation and address the changes — which will undoubtedly mark a before and after in the routine of Spanish drivers.
