Window tinting: why is it recommended to do it?

Tintado de Lunas: ¿Por Qué se Recomienda Hacerlo? | Ralarsa

Tinting a vehicle’s windows is a very common action carried out by many users, either for simple aesthetics or for the benefits it offers while driving — which we will discuss later. It’s true that some vehicles already come with tinted windows from the factory, but for those that don’t, it’s important to know that the Traffic Regulations, Article 19, stipulates that only the rear windows may be tinted, as long as the specific vehicle has two exterior rear-view mirrors.

That said, why does tinting rear windows provide benefits for the driver? From our Ralarsa window tinting workshops, we’re going to explain the benefits of tinted windows. If you want to know more about how window tinting works, the price, or about repairing car glass, don’t hesitate to visit our website for details. Before explaining why window tinting is recommended and the benefits it brings, it’s important to know how the process works at Ralarsa window tinting workshops.

Process for tinting rear windows

  1. First, we remove anything that might get in the way when placing the film and protect the areas most likely to get dirty or damaged.
  2. We clean the inside and outside of the windows to be tinted. If they’re not cleaned, the film might not stick properly.
  3. We take the measurements of the film and cut them to match the exact dimensions of the glass. We apply a mixture of soap and water to the outer side of the glass and place the film on top.
  4. We apply heat with a hot air gun at 300ºC to areas where creases are visible in the film. We press with a rubber squeegee to remove the creases and ensure the film conforms to the curvature of the glass. We cut off the excess film, remove the film from the exterior face, and let the glass dry.
  5. We place the film on the inside, removing its protective layer. We use the soap-and-water method again and begin adhering the film, starting from the centre out toward the edges. We press with a rubber squeegee.
  6. We check that the film is correctly installed and that there are no areas of the glass left uncovered. We clean the area where we worked and let it dry with the film already in place.
  7. From Ralarsa window tinting workshops, we will provide you with the official approval certificate, which includes all the data such as the model of film, specifications, place and date of installation, workshop details, and the vehicle’s details.

The rear window tinting process can be completed in just a morning or an afternoon — as you can see, it’s a fast and straightforward process. Why is window tinting recommended?

Tinting rear windows is recommended for three simple reasons that will help the driver while driving: privacy, protection, and user comfort.

  • Privacy: Using dark films to tint windows offers vehicle occupants extra privacy. It can also be useful in helping to deter theft, as people outside won’t be able to see the items inside the vehicle.
  • Protection: In the event of an accident with a strong impact that could shatter the glass, the film will prevent the glass from exploding, thus protecting the vehicle’s occupants.
  • Comfort: Having a film on the glass blocks ultraviolet rays and, as a consequence, reduces heat. Window films are perfect for summer. If you want to get your car ready for summer, find out our window tinting price on our website.
