FN Speed Team: going all out in this edition
For the fourth consecutive year and after their debut in 2019, the Girona-based team returns to the list of participating teams in the most high-profile race in the international motor world, which year after year captures attention from every corner of the globe. On this occasion, it will once again be the Spanish team with the largest number of competitors, whose objective is to get the highest number of riders across the finish line in Jeddah.
FN Speed Team aims to represent three of the five Dakar 2022 categories: motorcycles, SSV (light series vehicles) and trucks — with four, six, and three units respectively. All of them will face more than 8,000 kilometres spread over 12 arduous stages, where the desert dunes will take a leading role. However, they are determined to overcome each and every challenge that may arise during the course of the competition.
Meet the team!
Regarding the first category and following their success in the previous edition, manufacturer Rieju has chosen to repeat the experience with Joan Pedrero, Marc Calmet, Patricio Cabrera, and Daniel Nosilgia. They will be in charge of guiding their motorbikes to the end of each stage.
As for the SSVs, this category has the team’s largest representation, with Gaël Queralt heading the T4 category alongside Sergi Buqué; and Santi Navarro and Marc Solà, Sebastián Guayasamin and Ricardo Torlaschi, Javier Vélez and Mateo Moreno, Jordi Segura and Pedro López, plus Mercè Martí and Margot Llobera for the T3. This last pairing will make history as an entirely female line-up.
Finally, we have the giants of the desert in the truck category, which, in addition to competing in the race, also have all the skills necessary to accompany, support, and assist the team whenever necessary during the entire route. This is the category in which Ralarsa is participating with the sponsorship of one truck. In terms of drivers, we have Pato Silva joined by his teammates Carlos Mel and Pau Navarro; Àlex Aguirregaviria with co-drivers Rubén Mañas and Francesc Salisi; and finally Francesc Ester with Javier Jacoste and Jordi Comallonga.
